Dear Roxann,
There is something that God will not allow us to do. We cannot forget the people of Haiti. Their cries are still being heard by God, and He is asking us to be the hands that help feed them.
The nation of Haiti has been fought over for generations. There have been spiritual battles between Voodoo and Christianity, government battles between dictations and soldiers, and physical battles with people who were barely surviving before being battered by unrelenting hurricanes, tropical storms and oppressive heat. Then, on January 12, 2010, the unthinkable happened to them as a 7.0 magnitude earthquake further devastated their impoverished lives.
Bridge of Hope was one of the first responders. Our team rushed hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to the hungry, but they soon ran out as some people hadn’t eaten in a week. We must not forget the 230,000 men, women and children who lost their lives and the 100,000 who lost limbs in the Haiti earthquake. But most of all, we must not forget that we have the ability to help those who are still hungry.
In Isaiah 58:6, it says, “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” (NKJV)
